The FUTURE IS YOUth! 🎉

The City of West Jordan is now accepting applications for the West Jordan Youth Council (WJYC)! We are looking for resident students entering 9th through 12th grade who want to make a difference during the upcoming school year.

What is the WJYC?

The Youth Council is a dynamic group of high school students who bring unique perspectives, talents, and ideas to our local government. It is an excellent opportunity for youth to:

  • Engage directly with local officials.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how municipal government works.
  • Promote civic engagement among their peers.
  • Create a lasting, positive impact in West Jordan through service.

The Details:

There is no cost to apply or participate, and the council is limited to 20 participants.  The WJYC generally meetings on the third Tuesday of each month after school.

“I enjoy seeing high school students attend city council meetings as part of their assignment and become involved in our community,” says Councilmember Whitelock. “The Youth Council provides them an opportunity to give back through learning and service, and it also looks good on resumes and college applications.”

Ready to Lead?

Applications are open now! Read more details and submit your registration by the end of May.
