Mayor’s Message – August 2024

Can you believe it? Summer is already waving goodbye. What a great city summer we are having. From Tuesday food trucks at Ron Wood Park, to the Western Stampede, to swimming at the outdoor pool, so many West Jordan activities, and now the school bells are about to ring in a brand-new school year! While the days of sunshine and bicycling trips may be winding down, this transition offers us perfect opportunities to focus on something that makes our city truly special—community awareness.

As we juggle our jobs, family time, and those last summer barbecues, let’s not forget the simple yet powerful ways we can look out for each other. Whether it’s lending a hand at a local eventslowing down in school zones, or simply saying hello to a neighbor, every small action makes our community stronger and more connected.

Speaking of connections, the fun isn’t over yet! Some exciting events are still lined up to close out the year with a bang—literally, as in the case of our demolition derby! Don’t miss out on the monster truck and motocross rally, our First Friday concert seriescommunity markets, and so much more. If you want to keep your calendar packed with local fun, head over to westjordan.utah.gov/calendar and add upcoming events straight to your personal calendar. We’ve got a one-stop shop for all things West Jordan!

As we send our kids back to school and brace ourselves for cooler weather, let’s hold onto what makes West Jordan such a wonderful place to live—our caring, connected community.

Wishing you all a safe, happy, and successful school year!
