Give Back – Give Blood

What are you asking Santa for this year? While some may be hoping for a new TV or game console, The American Red Cross is asking for blood donations. The City of West Jordan has teamed up with Utah Red Cross to hold quarterly blood drives. The next blood drive is December 6th.

Why Donate?

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and just one donation can potentially save up to three lives. The Red Cross provides nearly 40 percent of our nation’s blood, all from volunteer donors. Hospitals are always in need of blood to keep patients alive and healthy, and local blood drives help keep those facilities stocked.

Who Can Donate?

Less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to give blood or platelets. Every year, an estimated 6.8 million Americans donate blood. Donors must be at least 17-years-old (16-years-old with parental consent.) Volunteers can make a whole blood donation every 56 days. Find out if you are eligible by visiting: redcrossblood.org

Where Can I Donate?
