City of West Jordan Earns Clean Audit and National Budget Award

The City of West Jordan received two major financial recognitions at City Council meetings: a clean audit for Fiscal Year 2025 and a national award for its budget document.
“We did receive our independent audit opinion, and it was clean with no findings, which is great,” said Administrative Services Director Danyce Steck. “No findings” means West Jordan is following state and federal financial reporting requirements and presenting the information in a fair and accurate manner.
West Jordan also earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award is given to governments that meet nationally recognized standards for effective budget presentation. Nearly 19,000 organizations submit budgets for review, but not all receive the honor.
Steck shared that the award reflects a strong commitment from both staff and the City Council.
“This is an award that is prestigious throughout my peer organizations,” she said.
She credited Budget Manager Becky Condie for leading the effort to improve and modernize the City’s budget document.

“We had not received it for many, many years,” Steck said. “She led the charge to making sure that our budget qualified for this award.”
Condie thanked the Council and staff, emphasizing that the recognition was a team effort.
“It really is a team effort,” she said. “Accomplishing those goals as a communications tool, a policy document, a financial guide — all of those criteria that this award is based on couldn’t happen without the input of all of you.”
Why this matters to you
A clean audit and a nationally recognized budget award both show that West Jordan is being transparent, financially responsible, and focused on long-term stability. In short, it means your tax dollars are being managed with care.
