NOTICE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT/INPUT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM 2020-2024 FIVE-YEAR CONSOLIDATED PLAN 

Public Hearing/Meeting 

 

The City of West Jordan is currently in the process of developing its Five-Year Consolidated Plan for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for Fiscal Years 2020-2024.  This document will direct the City in prioritizing project types to be funded under the CDBG Program for the next five years.  The City receives approximately $575,000 per year from the Department of Housing & Urban Development for various projects designed to assist low and moderate-income persons in West Jordan.  A general breakdown of past funding is as follows: 

 

15% of total funding to Public Service Agencies 

20% of total funding to Program Administration 

65% of total funding to Housing and Public Facilities Projects 

 

In order for a project to receive CDBG funding, the project type must be identified in the Five-Year Consolidated Plan.  

 

West Jordan’s efforts are being coordinated with Salt Lake County and the surrounding municipalities of Salt Lake County to determine the immediate and future needs of West Jordan.  In order to develop a comprehensive Five-Year Consolidated Plan, the following plans have been or will be updated as support documents: 

 

West Jordan Moderate Income Housing Plan 

Housing Impediments Analysis and Study 

Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness 

Salt Lake County Affordable Housing Plan 

 

The City will be holding 3 public hearings/public meetings on March 18, 25 and April 1, 2020 at 2:30 at the West Jordan City Hall, 3rd floor, Schor Gallery to receive comments.

The City of West Jordan will hold a public hearing/meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the West Jordan Finance Conference Room, 1st floor City Hall.  The purpose of the meeting is to obtain views on the housing and community development needs of the City and to discuss the submission of an application for funding under the Department of Housing & Urban Development FY 2010/2021 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the development of the West Jordan FY2020-2025 Consolidated Plan.  The following items will be discussed at the hearing:

 

  1. The amount of funds available for proposed community development and housing activities.

 

  1. The range of activities available that may be undertaken, including the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low and moderate incomes.

 

  1. The plans of the City for minimizing displaced persons as a result of activities assisted with such funds and the benefits to be provided by the City to persons actually displaced as a result of such activities; and

  2. The City’s past performance on CDBG projects funded by the Department of Housing & Urban Development.

 

All residents, particularly low and moderate-income persons and residents of slum and blighted areas of the City of West Jordan are encouraged to attend this meeting.
