The City of West Jordan finds many opportunities to help its Scouts earn merit badges and Eagle Scout ranks. Below you'll find information on potential Eagle Scout projects, merit badge requirements, and tours of city buildings.
Scout Merit Badges & Tours
Many troops schedule times to come to City Hall to work on their Citizenship in the Community merit badge. This often includes a tour of City Hall, the fire station or police station; attending a City Council meeting (the second or fourth Wednesday at 6 p.m.) or Planning Commission meeting (first or third Tuesday at 6 p.m.), or checking out the helpful information in our Scout Packet.
Our Police Department is also available to help with relevant merit badges. They are always happy to set up a training meeting with your Scout group to help pass off the Crime Prevention and Fingerprinting merit badges. Along with the merit badges, the Crime Prevention Unit also provides tours of the Police Department. Please email them directly or call 801-256-2032.
The Fire Department also offers assistance on many different merit badges. If you are interested in the Fire Department's help, submit a form on the Fire Department Merit Badge page.
Thinking about doing an Eagle Scout project for the City Parks Department? Please refer to these Eagle Project Guidelines. The purpose of this document is to help Scouts learn leadership and planning when working toward the rank of Eagle. When you are ready to request help or permissions, please use this Eagle Project Form here.
