Mayor’s Message – April 2024

Hello Residents!

April has arrived with its promise of showers, and boy, has it delivered! With all this rain, our water levels are looking pretty promising as we head into the summer months. As West Jordan residents, we are doing a great job conserving water. Even with the residential and commercial growth in the city, our water use is down. Without drowning ourselves with data, know that we have overflowing praise for our conservation efforts. Good for us!

Our statewide reservoirs are currently sitting at an impressive 83%, a stark comparison to previous year’s levels. This just goes to show the importance of our water storage and infrastructure. One thing we know for sure is that we don’t know what the future will bring. Having multi-year storage of water saved us during the drought. All of our efforts made the difference.

Monitoring these positive indicators allows us to prepare and adapt for the months ahead. That’s why I encourage all of you to check out SlowtheFlow.org for some fantastic water-saving resources. These programs not only educate but also provide incentives for adopting water-saving practices!

Remember, water conservation isn’t just about saving water; it’s also about saving money, preserving resources, and ensuring our resilience in the face of future challenges. And speaking of saving money, don’t forget about the rebate programs available for toilet replacement, smart controllers, and more!

Let’s be fluid as we work together and keep West Jordan green and thriving!

Best regards,

Mayor Dirk Burton
