Check out the following updates to virtual meeting participation, taking effect April 2025. Highlighting the differences of “participating” and “viewing” council meetings from your phone, computer, or tablet!
Zoom Participation
- As posted on non-COTW agendas, the “Participate in the Meeting” button will redirect to a Zoom sign-up page for the respective meeting (all City Council agendas, FES, MBA, and RDA meetings as appropriate).
- Sign-up page
- Basic contact information requested, only name and email required.
- Access to meeting
- Provided in the confirmation email (screenshot attached), with options to add to your personal calendar, forward to a friend, etc.
- Attendees can sign up to participate even after the meeting has started.
- If signing up within 60-minutes of the meeting, or after the meeting has started, the Zoom link is immediately available on the ensuing confirmation page.
- Sign-up page
- Once in the meeting, attendees will indicate their desire to speak by utilizing the “Raise your Hand” feature within Zoom, same as has been done previously.
- As per the norm, Council will hear in-person comments prior to accepting those from Zoom.
Viewing Option
- As posted on every agenda, the “View the Meeting” button will redirect to the respective meeting landing page, with a live stream and meeting materials.
- No sign-up or pre-registration required.
- Started as viewer, but wants to participate? Note that if an attendee is “viewing” and wants to participate on a whim, they may do so by clicking the “Participate in the Meeting” button on the displayed agenda.
- This option is not available during COTW meetings.
