How does the City of West Jordan operate? City residents had the opportunity to find out as they attended the West Jordan Citizen Academy recently.

The Citizen Academy is an eight-week program that gives residents a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how our city government works.

For one night each week, they had the opportunity to:

· Participate in hands-on activities with different city departments.

· Ask questions directly to city leaders and staff.

· Get to know the people who serve the community every day.

· Gain insight into the challenges, complexities, and opportunities that come with running the third largest city in the state.

The Citizen Academy is a chance to build relationships. Participants get to know not only the dedicated city staff who serve you every day, but also one another.

At the end of the eight weeks, the goal for participants is to not only leave with a deeper understanding of how West Jordan operates, but also make new connections, gain fresh perspectives, and a stronger sense of belonging in the city.
