Mayor’s Message December 2023

As we enjoy the most wonderful time of the year, I want to say how grateful I am to lead such a fantastic community. West Jordan has always been a place where neighbors look out for each other, and that’s what makes our city so special.

As your Mayor I get to see firsthand the incredible generosity and kindness that our residents display all year round. It’s heartwarming to witness your acts of goodwill and watch you support one another.

As we “wrap” up this year, let us continue to remember what truly matters: our relationships and connections with others. Here are a few simple ways you can make a difference in our community this holiday season:

  • Remind your neighbor garbage collection is delayed. The week of Christmas and New Year’s garbage and recycling pickup will be delayed one day for West Jordan households. Regular service will resume Monday, January 8. Read more below.
  • Help emergency responders, mail carriers, and residents with mobility issues by clearing snow. Keeping hydrants, mailboxes, and sidewalks clear is crucial to ensuring safe access to services in your neighborhood.
  • Help a neighbor beat the winter blues by nominating them for a free rec center pass. Regular movement releases endorphins into the blood stream, which can lower your stress level, improve your mood, and generally make you feel better. It takes less than five minutes to complete the nomination form.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, or something else entirely, may your holidays be filled with service and the “presents” of joy and love.
