Mayor’s Message – January 2026
Happy New Year West Jordan!
I’m happy 2026 is already off to a great start for you and your family. If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to spend more time enjoying the things West Jordan has to offer, you’re good just by living here (and yes, I fully support that. It comes with less stress and more community fun).
As we turn the page on another year, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on what an exciting and meaningful 2025 was for our city. One of the biggest milestones was the opening of the Canyon View Credit Union Community and Arts Center! A true cornerstone for creativity, connection, and the arts in West Jordan. We continue to invest in public art throughout the city. Have you seen the stunning 100-foot mural across one of our water tanks or the new sugar beet sculpture near the arts center? West Jordan has a rich history in sugar beet farming.
Looking ahead to 2026, there’s even more to be excited about. This year, we’ll celebrate a special local milestone as West Jordan turns 85 years old on January 10. We’re also continuing to expand opportunities for connection and inclusion in the city. Including our annual Small and Tall Ball, in February, and a new sensory-friendly version of the event so more residents can participate and feel welcome. We are celebrating 250 years of America all year, but specifically during our 4th of July event, the West Jordan Western Stampede! Yee Haw!
As always, thank you for being engaged, supportive, and proud of the place we all call home. We’re always looking for ways to improve how we serve you, because great cities don’t just grow… they grow with their residents. (And yes, we promise not to make that just a New Year’s resolution. We plan to keep it going for years to come.)
Wishing you a safe, healthy, and successful New Year.
Sincerely,
Mayor Dirk Burton
