Posting Political Signs? Here’s What You Need to Know
Know the rules before you post — guidelines for timing, size, placement, and more.

Sizing
- Non-commercial signage (Campaign Signs) limited to 8 square feet.
- Handheld signs, limited to 6 square feet
- Can not be connected together
Prohibited Signs
- Signs which distract drivers – “stop” or “honk”
- Portable reader signs and Portable signs
- Signs in a clear vison zone
- Vehicle signs
Do's & Don'ts
Do - place your sign on private property (WITH PROPERTY OWNERS PERMISSION)
Do – put up signs
Do- place them within city limits
Do – Remember to take them down (14 days after the Primary or General Election)
Don’t – Put signs on public property - schools, parks, city buildings
Don’t – Place on the rights-of-way
Don’t – Place on utility poles
Don’t – Place on park strips
Don’t – Use the City Logo
Don’t – Remove other candidates signs. This is a class B Misdemeanor Utah State Code 20a – 17-102(1)
West Jordan City Sign Enforcement
Signs are held for 14 days prior to destruction. There is an impound fee of $50.00 per sign if taken by West Jordan City Code Enforcement. These fees are listed in the West Jordan City Consolidated Fee Schedule.

You must include your name, email address and the location of the sign. If possible, please upload a photo of the prohibited sign. This information will be sent to the City for review.
