Mayor’s Message: Halfway Through 2025 (July)
As we reach the midpoint of 2025, let’s highlight some of the progress we’ve made so far, and what’s still to come in West Jordan.
Investing in Infrastructure
We’ve made major strides in improving how we move through our city:
- The 7800 South widening project is nearly complete, easing east-west traffic.
- We’ve opened 9000 South to U-111, providing another much-needed east-west route.
- The new traffic signal at New Bingham Highway and 6400 West is making the area safer and easier to navigate.
- Road maintenance continues citywide, including updated ADA ramps and fresh overlays.
Building Community Spaces
- We opened the doors to our new Community and Arts Center—another place West Jordan residents can call their own.
- Veterans Memorial Park now features a permanent entertainment stage, creating more space for performances and events.
- Phase Two of our Wheels Park is nearly ready! This is one of the largest in the state and has some impressive ties to X Games and Olympic-level builders.
- A second disc golf course is coming to our west side.
Improving City Services
- We’ve expanded language support in our Passport Office—including ASL and Spanish—making the process easier and more accessible for everyone.
Growing a Healthy, Safe City
- West Jordan was recognized as a Get Healthy Utah City, a reflection of our commitment to wellness for all who live, work, and play here.
- Our Police Department added a drone program to improve emergency response and safety.
- The City received a new fire truck to support our growing community – making our total: four frontline engines/ladder truck.
It is you who makes West Jordan a success. Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more connected community. I love this city!
Sincerely,
Mayor Dirk Burton
