Honoring a Hero: Councilmember Melissa Worthen and Husband Donate Stunning Artwork to City

In a touching act of tribute and community spirit, Councilmember Melissa Worthen and her husband, Mike Worthen, have donated a painting to our city. This artwork honors Police Service Dog Maya, who lost her life in the line of duty in February 2022.

Mike Worthen, a skilled artist, crafted a painting that captures Maya’s service and qualities that define our local heroes—dedication, loyalty, bravery, sacrifice, and love.

This meaningful artwork will soon reside in City Hall as a reminder of our law enforcement officers’ commitment and sacrifices. We thank the Worthens for their generous contribution to our community. City Hall renovations are ongoing, and you can view this artwork once they are completed next year. Stay tuned for this addition to our City Hall, a tribute to the individuals who protect and serve West Jordan.

Let’s come together to honor and celebrate the qualities that make our community strong—dedication, loyalty, bravery, sacrifice, and love. Join us in commemorating our heroes and fostering a sense of unity in West Jordan.
