Hydrant Painting Program
The West Jordan Fire Department Hydrant Painting Program, established by Chief Derek Maxfield, helps keep our community safe and beautiful. Fire hydrants are lifelines for firefighters, providing critical water once engine tanks (holding 300–500 gallons) are used—often in just a few minutes. Bright, freshly painted hydrants are easier to spot, especially at night, and show care for our city.
The program offers complete painting kits with approved, long-lasting paint for volunteers, community groups, or homeowners who want to help. Kits accommodate up to 30 participants for group projects. Thanks to donations from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Paul Davis Restoration, and the Lionheart Gift Foundation, we can provide these kits at no cost.
Get involved—help make West Jordan safer and more vibrant by painting a hydrant!
