What is Get to the River?

Get to the River is an annual month-long celebration of the Jordan River Corridor. Various communities and organizations run events along the river during the month of September to better educate the public and celebrate the resources that the Jordan River provides.

What Is the Get to the River Fun Walk?

Participants are encouraged to walk a mile of the Jordan river trail. There will be Information booths, field games, and picnic areas, so bring a blanket and some snacks. This event is organized and Hosted by the Healthy West Jordan Committee and The City of West Jordan in partnership with the Jordan River Commission.

What time does the event start?

The Fun walk will run from 9 AM to 12 PM.

How much does the event cost?

This event is free to the public.

Do I need to Register for this Event?

There is no registration required to participate in this event.

Who can Participate? (Can I bring my dog?)

Walkers, Cyclists, and Dogs are all welcome! Please keep in mind that dogs must be on leash.

Are there restrooms available along the Jordan River Trail?

Bathroom availability is limited.

Is there a specific route for the Fun Walk, or can I walk any part of the Jordan River Trail?

The official route starts at the Jordan River trail head off of 7000 S and continues a half mile down the trail and back.

Can I participate in the Fun Walk if I have limited mobility or use a wheelchair?

Everyone is welcome! The path is paved with ramps to enter and exit the route.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the event? Is there a rain date?

In the unlikely event that weather causes a need for cancelation, we will inform the public on social media, and the City of West Jordan Website.

Are there any nearby public transportation options for getting to the event?

Yes! The bus stop 7000 S at 1080 W is less than a 5-minute walk from the trail head.
