Mayor’s Message – June 2026

As we move into June, we’re officially entering “construction season” or as I like to call it, the time of year when our roads get a little paved attention. While orange cones may not be your favorite roadside decoration, they do signal something important: progress that keeps West Jordan moving!

We recently completed the new pedestrian bridge on 7000 South and 1440 W. It’s a project designed to help kids safely cross the road while keeping traffic flowing. You could say it’s a step in the right direction, literally and figuratively. And it’s just one of the improvements we’re making to help east‑west travel run a bit more smoothly.

More projects are on the way this summer, each focused on strengthening the way we move around our community. Updating, maintaining, and adding infrastructure is a continuous process. There’s always room to build on what’s working and repair what needs attention. We’re committed to keeping things on the right track.

So, the next time you see an orange cone, I hope you’ll try to view it as more than a delay. Think of it as a small symbol of the possibilities ahead. Who knows, one of these projects might just bridge the gap between a frustrating commute and a better one.

You can stay up to date on every project, timeline, and traffic adjustment by visiting our construction page. Thank you for your patience, your good humor, and your partnership as we keep improving the place we call home!

Sincerely,

Mayor Dirk Burton
