The FY 2027 tentative budget includes a proposed tax rate increase. Details are available in the Property Tax Impact Schedule. Full budget documents can be found on the budget page. Public hearings will be held during City Council meetings on June 9, June 23, and Aug. 11.

 Account Setup 

  1. Use the link to access the building and safety page
  2. Select “Apply Online” if you do not have a portal account and complete your account registration process. 
    • If you do not receive a verification email during account registration, check your spam/junk mail folder. If you have any issues, please call our main office at 801-569-5050. 
  3. Select “Sign In” if you already have an active account. 

 Applying for Permits 

  1. From the main portal page, select “+ New Application (Business License or Building Permit)” at the top of the page. 
  2. Choose “Building & Safety”, then choose the category that most applies to your project. 
    • If you are unsure which permit type to select, please contact our office for guidance. 
  3. Fill in all required fields, attach plans, and submit your application. 

Review Timeframes

Residential Projects: Allow up to 10 business days (excluding holidays) for the initial review by the Building and Planning Departments (if applicable). 

Commercial: Allow up to 21 business days (excluding holidays) for the initial review by the Building and Planning Departments (if applicable). 

Corrections

 After the initial review, corrections may be required. If so: 

  • You will receive a an email notification from the system. 
  • A plan check report will be uploaded to the “Attachments and Related Documents” section outlining required corrections. 
  • Upload all revised documents to the portal for re-review. 

Corrections are reviewed within 5 business days. 

Paying Fees and Permit Issuance 

  • Once your plans are approved, you will receive an invoice notification via email. 
  • Click the link in the email or log in to your portal account and select “Pay Fees” from the “Choose Action” dropdown menu. 
  • Payment Notes: 
  • A service fee applies: 3.5% for credit card payments or $2.00 for eCheck transactions. 
  • To avoid service fees, you may pay by check or in person at City Hall. 
  • If paying by check, please include a copy of your invoice. 

Accessing Approved Plans 

Once your permit is issued, you will find your approved, stamped plans in the attachments section of your portal. Please be sure to look at your plans thoroughly. 

Scheduling Inspections 

  • To schedule an inspection, sign in to your portal account and select “Schedule Inspection” from the “Choose Action” dropdown menu. 

Inspection Notes: 

  • For electrical service upgrades, schedule a power to panel inspection for the same day as your Rocky Mountain Power shut-off date. Call our main office once the work has been completed and you’re ready for your city inspection and an inspector will be there within 1 hour. 
  • All footing and foundation inspections are timed, all other inspections allow you to specify AM or PM. To coordinate a time to meet your inspector onsite, please contact our office the morning of your inspection after 8AM. 
  • You must have an active portal account and be listed as a point of contact to schedule inspections. 

Revisions 

Any changes to approved plans may require additional review: 

  • Upload revised documents to the portal 
  • Revisions are typically reviewed within 5 business days of submission 

Please note that additional plan review fees may be assessed at the plan reviewer’s discretion.
