Councilmember Anderson was the first West Jordan Council Member to be appointed to the council by a coin toss on a 3-3 tie vote in November 2016. He ran during the mid-term election in 2017 and was successful in his campaign and will serve two more years.


Councilman Anderson earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Utah and later a Master's degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University in 2008.  He also earned certification from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles from the Institute of Organizational Management (IOM).


Councilman Anderson is employed as a business manager handling payroll, budget, tax payments and reporting, audits and financial reporting requirements. He worked 15 years as the president of a regional chamber of commerce helping businesses grow, building relationships and working with elected officials to ensure the proper role of government.


When he moved to West Jordan in 2012, Councilman Anderson became involved by serving on the city’s Budget Committee, the Executive Budget Committee and chaired the city’s Sustainability Committee. Prior to moving to West Jordan, he was a member of the Kearns Town Council and later served 10 years on the board of trustees for the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center and served two terms on the BYU Romney Institute Board as an advisory board member.


Councilman Anderson currently volunteers on the Governing Board of the Jordan Valley Medical Center and also as the Fundraising and Development Manager for the National Model Railroad Association, which is part of his hobby of model railroading. He and his wife Kristi have four children.
