About:

The West Jordan Youth Council (WJYC) is a dynamic and passionate group of resident high school students, bringing together unique perspectives, talents, and ideas. The WJYC is an excellent way for youth to engage with local officials, gain an understanding of local government, promote civic engagement, and help the youth of West Jordan create an impact in their community.

Our Mission:

The mission of the WJYC is to ignite civic engagement among our city’s youth, provide them with an understanding of municipal government, and help prepare them to make a positive impact on their community.

Program Details:

In order to participate in the program, students must be West Jordan residents and enrolled in a 9-12th grade high school or high school level program (i.e., private or charter school).

The WJYC will consist of student members and be supervised by adult program advisors, with additional involvement from designated City Council members.

Meetings will be held monthly on the second Tuesday (4 PM-5:30 PM), November through May, at various locations throughout the city of West Jordan. Note that participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from activities. Meetings are subject to change dates/times, pending service projects, special events, and potential city council meetings.
